Information On Eligibility For The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)

Created for property owners, The Boiler Upgrade Scheme aims to support the decarbonisation of heat in buildings in England and Wales.

This scheme was launched last year and offers grants of up to £7,500 towards an air source heat pump or a ground source heat pump.

When it comes to air source heat pumps, you must be installing hydronic (air-to-water) to be eligible under BUS. Unfortunately, air-to-air systems are not currently eligible.

You must also use a MCS approved installer like Alto Energy Limited when organising a heat pump installation.

Although we cannot guarantee you will be eligible for the grant, we can advise you as to whether you’re likely to pass the criteria.

Applicants should also be receiving certain benefits, such as Pension Credit, Child Tax Credit, or Universal Credit. Your property must also have an estimated total heat energy supply requirement of less than 45kWth - anything over is not eligible.
You can find out more about your eligibility on our website. Alternatively, if you need more details on whether you’re eligible, don’t hesitate to contact our team for more information.
