The number of heat pumps installed increased all over the world last year, including in the UK. Nonetheless, 74% of households are still heating their homes using gas boilers. This means the heating sector accounts for a third of the UK's greenhouse gas emissions.
Heat pumps can not only help us fight climate change, but will save you money in the long-term. With the help of the Boiler Upgrade Grant, it’s also more affordable than you might imagine to update your heating system.
In order to be eligible for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, you must use a MCS approved installer like Alto Energy.
Your project should be completed by a company who can provide an MCS certificate. You will also need to have a heat pump system with a capacity of 45kW or less to be eligible for the scheme.
This scheme is also only available in England and Wales but applies to all existing domestic and non-domestic buildings. However, hybrid systems don’t apply: the heat pump must be designed to provide all of the heating and hot water to your property.
