COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT GROUND SOURCE HEAT PUMP REPLACEMENT

How long does it take to replace a ground source heat pump?

Provided you have been happy with the performance of the existing heat pump, and our technical checks confirm that everything is satisfactory with the existing ground array and heating distribution system, it is usually possible to replace a ground source heat pump within just a few days. Of course, this is subject to installer availability, which during busier times of year can be longer.

Can I use the existing ground collector?

Usually, yes. Our technical team will review all available data about the long-term performance of your existing ground collector to ensure that it has operated effectively. We will also inspect recent service reports. Provided that it has performed well, the existing collector can typically be reused with the new ground source heat pump. During installation, our engineers will usually add cleaner to the ground loop to ensure it is free of contamination and ready for another heat pump system.

Is my model of IVT ground source heat pump still available?

We do hold limited stocks of IVT ground source heat pumps, however we also maintain large stocks of the Viessmann range. Viessmann was selected following an extensive procurement process, where we aimed to identify the closest like-for-like replacement for the older IVT models from a manufacturer known globally for quality and technical support. Our experienced technical team will ensure that the right system is supplied for your property.

Why Viessmann?

We identified Viessmann ground source heat pumps as the ideal replacement for IVT units because they share several key characteristics, including:

  • Similar physical dimensions
  • Comparable connection positions for simpler installation with minimal system changes
  • Equivalent compressor outputs

In addition, Viessmann offers UK-based technical support and a user-friendly app that provides greater system connectivity.
