The Home Insulation & Energy Systems Contractors Scheme (HIES) is a Consumer Protection organisation. Being a member of a Consumer Protection organisation such as HIES is a mandatory requirement for being a member of the MCS scheme.
What is HIES?
HIES ensures that consumers are dealt with professionally, courteously and sympathetically. Any products installed by HIES Members must be fit for purpose, installed professionally and come with comprehensive guarantees which are underwritten with specialist insurance providing consumers with a high level of protection and peace of mind.

Being a member of a Consumer Protection organisation such as HIES is a mandatory requirement for being a member of the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (“MCS”). MCS is an eligibility requirement for the Government's financial incentives including the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI). This means that if you don't deal with a fully MCS accredited company who is a member of an organisation like HIES to commission your heat pump then you could miss out on thousands of pounds of government incentives.

Who is George Clarke?
George Clarke is an accomplished architect, TV presenter and home improvement champion. He first rose to fame in 2008 with his work on Channel 4’s The Restoration Man, after previously appearing on Channel 5, as resident architect for Build a New Life in the Country. He is also widely know for his work on George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, Amazing Spaces Shed of the Year, and more recently Old House New Home.
Outside of television, George is Dad to three children, a successful business man with his own architectural firm – George Clarke & Partners, avid campaigner and author of several home improvement books.
A passionate advocate for high standards in the home improvement industry, George feels a sense of frustration by the lack of protection and the absence of insight, education and clarity for consumers. Joining Nick Ross as a consumer champion and brand ambassador of the schemes, George will work with HIES to ensure consumers are safe and protected when using a HIES installer to carry out home improvements to their home.
