How To Clean The Filter For Your Samsung Air Source Heat Pump

cleaning the Filter for Your Samsung Air Source Heat Pump

Air source heat pumps are becoming increasingly popular in many UK households for their energy efficiency and low carbon emissions. However, to ensure their optimal performance, it is important to regularly clean, maintain and service them. One of the key things you can do as a Samsung air source heat pump owner is to keep the filter clean.

In this article, we will discuss how to clean the filter. Alternatively, we have put together a quick video to show you how easy it is:

How often should the filter be cleaned?

The filter for your Samsung air source heat pump should be cleaned one month after the installation of your heat pump. After that, we recommend cleaning it once a year (unless the system is especially dirty. If this is the case, clean it every 3 months).

What equipment is needed?

All you need is a spanner and a small tub to catch any excess water.

Step 1: Turn off the power

Before you begin the cleaning process, it is important to turn off the power to your Samsung air source heat pump. This can be done by switching off the power to the hot water and heating using the Samsung controller. Wait for 1 minute to allow the system to turn off. You should hear the pump stop.

Step 2: Locate and remove the filter

The filter is located near the hot water cylinder and can be identified by the red handle. To access the filter, simply turn the red handle to ‘closed’ (it should be 90 degrees to the pipework) and unscrew the cap on the bottom of the fitting using the spanner. Hold the tub below the cap to catch the small amount of water that comes out.

Once you have access to the filter, carefully remove it. It is important to handle the filter with care to avoid damaging it.

Step 3: Clean the filter

Using your hand or a small, soft brush, gently remove any dirt or debris from inside the filter and rinse it under water. Once the filter is clean, it can be reinserted. Please note that the filter has 2 small location tabs which fit into 2 small indents within the fixture. This should make it easy to reinsert the filter into the correct position.

The cap can now be screwed on and the red handle can be turned to ‘open’ (the red handle should point in the same direction as the pipework). Please be careful not to overtighten the cap.

Step 4: Turn on the power

Finally, turn on the power to your Samsung air source heat pump using the controller. Once the power is turned on, your heat pump should be working as normal.
