Setting Your IVT Ground Source Heat Pump To Run On The Back Up Immersion

With Christmas around the corner, we thought it might be useful for customers to know how to switch the heat pump over to back up immersion, in the event of a fault on the heat pump.

All IVT ground source heat pumps come with a back up immersion heater, which can be useful in the unlikely event of your heat pump going down. However we think it’s a great feature because if your heating or hot water were to go down, it’s nice to know that there is a back up!

The instructions you need to follow to put your heat pump on to the back up immersion are detailed in the help sheets below, which are available for you to download.

If you are unsure as to what heat pump you have, there is a data plate on top of the unit which will tell you.

DISCLAIMER

The back up immersion is essentially an electric boiler, with no energy contributions from the ground loop. As such, your running costs will be significantly higher. Alto Energy Limited accepts no responsibility for customers incurring additional running costs as a result of following these instructions.

What if this doesn’t work?

If you have tried to put your heat pump on the back up immersion, or your heat pump is faulting in a way that it won’t allow you to use the immersion, then you will need to speak to someone in our technical support team. Please submit a contact form below and we will call you back on Monday 30th December.
